November 3rd

Noah has been making a lot of urine over the last 24 hours. His weight has decreased from 3 lbs 7 oz at birth to 3 lbs and 1 oz. He definitely looks thinner. He was also placed under phototherapy lights today due to an elevated bilirubin level. This was expected because it frequently happens to premature babies, also Noah had a lot of bruises from the emergent c-section.

He continues to tolerate his feeds and is doing well with that. Hopefully, he will start receiving Mommy's milk tomorrow. This will decrease his risk of infections and intestinal problems.

I am hopeful that he is now off of antibiotics since there was no evidence of bacterial growth in his cultures after 48 hours. He will remain at high risk for infections until he gets his umbilical venous catheter out.

Noah's respiratory status is improving and he may come off of CPAP tonight. He remains on caffeine for episodic apnea. This is not uncommon in little guys like him.

Missy is doing quite well. Her milk is coming in and she was able to hold Noah for about an hour and a half this evening. Her voice has been strained as a result of trauma from her intubations for surgery. Hopefully that will improve in the next week.

She is diuresing well and has dropped a large volume of fluid. Her hemoglobin has been stable and she has been able to eat a regular diet. She had a fever this evening and was subsequently started on antibiotics. This is obviously concerning. We will see what happens.

Please pray for the following:
Noah's neonatologist for the next two weeks, Dr. Guida
Missy's OB/GYNs, Drs. Laveren and Heinzel
Strength for our family during the days and weeks to follow
Opportunities to be salt and light to others

Thanks for checking on Noah today.

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13.

What an opening line, "Noah has been making a lot of urine...". Thrilled that Missy is doing so much better, thanks for the opportunity to pray for all of you, you need the prayer, we need the practice!
