December 1, 2007

Happy Birthday to Noah!!!! Today is Noah's one month birthday. It is hard to believe how far he has come in such a short time. This morning he weighed 4 lb 8.5 oz (2055 grams) which is 78 grams more than yesterday and he is averaging an increase of 35.1 grams a day over the past week. So as of today, he is closer to 5 lbs than 4lbs!!! He continues to take around 45% of his feeds orally and is remaining alert/awake longer during his feeds. Apparently since it was his birthday he decided he could be a little mischievous. I changed his diaper at 11am and 5pm and both times he "showered" his outfit and blankets! His nurse informed me, after the 5 pm incident, that at his 8 am change , he shot poop everywhere! Your birthday doesn't come around every day, you might as well have fun when it does. Anna and I invited our close friend and neighbor, Nancy Browne, to go with us to the hospital this afternoon to meet her smallest neighbor. Nancy took some pictures that hopefully will make it to the blog once Tom gets home, so every one can see how good he looks. After leaving the hospital, we rode around looking at Christmas decorations...Anna's favorite December past time. For those of you who have never been to Havertown in December, it is a sight to behold. Virtually every home looks like the Griswold's in Christmas Vacation. Thank you so much for following Noah's progress!

Tonight, Anna brought over book with a picture of a dove and told me,"This is Noah's story, Mommy." I asked her why and she quickly said," because Noah let the dove fly away when the flood was over, so this is Noah's dove." Her memory continues to amaze me. So tonight, I chose the verse to which Anna was referring. It may not come across as a very powerful or inspiring verse at first glance, but when your three year old remembers scripture, it is an awesome thing. The Lord loves His children and chooses to bless us with them.

"When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth."
Genesis 8:11

Please pray for the following:
Noah, and his big sister Anna, that they would come to know the Lord at a young age
God's continued working in the lives of our friends and family
My mom (Susan) for continued comforting and encouragement after her surgery for a detached retina
Noah's neonatologists and nurses
Opportunities to be salt and light to others

Please thank God for (at least) the following:
His love, grace, faithfulness, and provision
His strengthening of our family
His working in the lives of all those who have played such an important part in Noah's life already: those who have and continue to pray for him
